The Project Begins: April 4, 2009 - The first wave of volunteers to
begin after the professionals have finished
the tree trimming and removals. A special thanks goes out to the Kiwanis for bringing 20
volunteers and working so very hard. We worked on
removing the stump grindings and cleaned up and prepped
the tennis court fencing to be painted. For the skeptics...take a
look at
this hollow trunk...it was just a matter of time before
this Elm fell during the next storm or the
next person walking
their dog.
March 30, 2009 - Duke Energy has donated $2000.00 to pay for replacement trees at Sunset
Park. A celebration is schedueled at Sunset Park on Earth Day, April 22nd at 10 a.m. Volunteers
will also be working throughout the day. Bring a rake, shovel....gloves and roll up those sleeves.
March 18, 2009 - Special thanks to TREE-MEND-US owner Tim Fitzgerald, Matt Penny of Penny
Tree Service, Jim
Geisler for wood removal, Brickman professionals for Lilac trimming and Duke
Energy for funding
the remaining 20 hours of
tree work through ASPLUNDH, and Steve
Lewis of

Keep
Middletown Beautiful, Inc.
We currently have $10,000.00 of in-kind work and more
projects are
slated
before non-
professionals come in for Earth Day, Arbor Day and the final
work-day on Sat. April 25th
when all volunteers will gather for pictures, recognition and a
cookout.
